As anyone who knows anything about being an indie author will tell you, it’s not great at paying the bills, which is why I also work as a copywriter. After getting my degree in journalism, I dipped my toe in public relations, found it absolutely wasn’t for me, and then somehow fell into copywriting.
If you don’t know what a copywriter is, it basically means I write words for websites. Over more than a decade, I’ve written about everything from accounting and consumer finance to beauty and travel. But, while it does pay the bills, it’s not something I love.
Which is why I started writing That One Small Spark. It carried me away from the real world, in the same way as reading always has. Two and half years – and 6,209 drafts – later, I decided to self-publish. While it would have been lovely to be discovered by a traditional publisher and live the dream of every debut author, it turns out that path wasn’t for me.
So, here we are! I continue to write words for websites during the day, while my nights are filled with faeries and magic and spice, as I feverishly create worlds I would love to live in, but – let’s be real here – would probably not survive in longer than a few hours.
I hope you love visiting my worlds just as much as I loved dreaming them up! I love to meet readers and chat all things bookish!
